I'm Starting To Feel Drained

It's my third day of overtime for this week and I can now feel the exhaustion. My body's trying to tell me to give up and take a rest. Body aches and muscle aches in one! Still, I am thankful to God for helping me survived this shift no matter how toxic it was. Though I'm still hoping and praying for a lesser toxic days ahead of us and to spare me for another overtime. I really need to take a rest. Looking forward for my days off. Hehe.

Extended Duties

For two consecutive days, I've been opted to work overtime. I should be off at around 6 pm but since our unit was so busy due to a lot of elective cases, I was forced to go overtime. What can I do then? There are only two nurses on duty and one OR technician in the afternoon shift and there are cases on going plus patients in the PACU. There's no one who would received my patient for PACU and so I have to do it my own. Even the transporting of patient seemed hard for me since I can't get anyone from the staff to help me in transporting my patient, and so I have to ask help from the housekeeping. Good thing they were kind enough to lend a hand. It's exhausting having duty extensions, then your compensation for your overtime work is just around thirty bucks per hour. That's not even satisfying when you consider the load of your work you render. Hays. How I wish the administration would go attend the needs of our unit in order for us to work effectively and efficiently.

Solo Nurse On Duty

Just last week, I got my chance to work alone as the nurse on duty for the afternoon shift. My partners didn't report on duty and so I was left alone. Good thing I had two trainees on duty and one OR technician plus 2 students for their completion. We had one case in our shift. I was concerned that may be anytime I would receive a STAT (emergency) cases. This I cannot reject since it's an emergency. I was praying hard and indeed God hears our prayers.

I managed to survive my shift and I was grateful I did. Thank God!

Certified Nursing Assistant

The act of taking care of patients gives pride and joy in my profession, what more if it is my loved ones. The act of being thanked by the ones you cared for gives a feeling of happiness and satisfaction which relieves the exhaustion you are feeling when working. A nursing assistant is no different.

One must be a certified nursing assistant to work and in doing so, one needs to enroll in one of the CNA schools located in your area to learn the fundamentals of nursing care. It's not merely learning the theories of it but as well as the clinical experiences. And with that, CNA training is also necessary. Found this website that provides CNA courses that would surely help you start your career. Do check it out.

Ultrasound Technicians

Medical professions are quite a big hit these days due to the fact that there is an increasing demands for health care as more and more people are becoming aware of their health and in their future. That is the reason behind why there is a great demand for these professions, not just in the United States but globally as well.

However, the demand is not merely limited to physicians and nurses. Ultrasound technicians are also greatly needed in the medical field being driven by the aging population, increase demands for diagnostic imaging, advances in diagnostic imaging and the desire of patients to use alternatives to radiological procedures. Employment will grow more in the hospitals as their primary employer, physician's offices and diagnostic centers.

An ultrasound tech must be equipped with the appropriate skills needed to understand and operate complicated diagnostic equipments, physical stamina to help transport and lift a patient, visual acuity to understand and select appropriate diagnostic images for physician diagnosis, accurately record patient information, excellent communication skills to interact with the patient and to establish rapport with the patients to help them feel at ease during the procedures. It takes a lot of self confidence and problem solving ability, it's not just taking a picture of an organ but knowing the organ and the images you need. Being able to acquire these skills, one must be trained well in the right schools that can help you all about the new technology. I found this great site that would help those who wanted to be an ultrasonographer find the right ultrasound technician school for them.

Job Search At POEA

I decided to visit the POEA Regional office today with my boyfriend. When we got there, I scanned through the bulletin board and looked for any job offers for nurses abroad. Unfortunately, only a few agencies were posted and mostly were for the middle east and USA. I was hesitant with the offer in the US due to the retrogression thingy.

Anyways, after going through the board, I was not even sure what I'll do next. So I thought that we should go inside the office and look if there are other posted job offerings there. So we headed up the 2nd floor of the building where their office is located. I saw the guard at the entrance taking care of the logbook for the applicants to sign before getting inside.

But I still didn't know what to do. I wanted to ask the guard but I don't know what and how to ask him. I told my boyfriend about it and we were just laughing and making fun of ourselves for going there without even knowing what to do.

And I thought that if we leave, we will just be wasting our time in going there for nothing so I might as well ask the guard. And so did I! I asked "manong" guard if there are other job offers inside the office aside from the ones displayed in the bulletin board. But he told me that there were none but there are offers only for Saudi Arabia and handed me the requirements for the Ministry of Health of KSA.

Even now, I am still hesitant with the idea of working in KSA but if I still can't a job here, then I guess I will take the risk.
