Fun Sunday

It was one great fun we had last Sunday. Early morning we joined the Adidas Fun Run and was able to complete the 5k run. Though we really didn't do much running, it's more of walking. But anyways, it was fun to do it with your friends and with a lot of people as well. I was amazed how that event turned out. A lot of people had joined in.

Next stop, off we went to Malagos Garden Resort for our lunch buffet. Surprisingly, it was their farm fair day and a lot of guests where there. It was my first time to be in Malagos and I had fun with bird feeding and taking pictures around. One of the great photo we had was with this gigantic San Miguel balloon. We might look stupid with this photo with so many people around looking and laughing with our trip. We didn't mind though because we're all having fun goofing around.

Island Hopping with Friends

This is the second time around that I tagged along for an island hopping in Samal. Now, I'm with my co-workers and some friends as well. We went to Babusanta, Coral Garden...and the others...I don't know where was that. What I knew was, the water was crystal clear and was so inviting. The corals were colorful and plentiful, the fishes were abundant and everything was just so great. We rented a boat for like P7,000, good for 50 persons maximum.

Everyone just loosen up and enjoyed the day diving with life vest on, since most of us didn't know how to swim. Hehe.

Kadayawan 2009

The 24th Kadayawan Festival in Davao City was a success! It gets getting better every year. Thanks to all it's organizers, sponsors and of course the local government of Davao. My family and I also had fun roaming around the city. The city streets were filled with people and there were a lot of events and guests around. Major highlights were the Indak Indak and the Flower Float Parade which I only watched on TV to avoid the crowded places. LOL.

Our First Girl's Outing...

It was one hot summer day last May 29 and my cousin Pao suggested we go to the beach and invite our other cousins, Han and Colleen. Off we went to Costa Marina Resort at Samal Island.

The wind was soothing to our skin. We enjoyed taking pics with our nice bikini tops that we bought at Xquichic online.



We were almost stranded in the island. It was around 3pm that the rain started to poured heavily with strong winds that canceled the boat trips to and from the island temporarily. We worried we might not be able to leave the island and so we started planning for an overnight stay. But luckily, the rain had stopped in time for the their last trip and we arrived home safely.

Blue Jaz Resort

It's summer! And part of this season is going to the beach with friends. It was a pleasure to join this group to Blue Jaz Resort in Samal Island.

We took the boat going to the resort at Beachside Resort in Lanang. It was a whole day experience in the beach. It was very hot and the sea water is very inviting to dip in. What I was excited to do in the resort is to try their new big waterslides. Unfortunately, it will cost you P90 for that so we opted not to.

What's good in this place is it's nice to take pictures. And we had a lot of it.

Chillin' Out at Fagioli

You may have noticed that I've been raving about Fagioli Coffee Shop. I've been a fan of their coffee, pastries and pasta since I first visited them. They've never disappointed me so far. And again, after strolling around the city for the kadayawan, we went to Fagioli to eat.

Flower Festival the Continuation

This is the continuation of our trip to agro trade fair during the kadayawan festival. Earlier I've posted photos of the participants of the landscaping contest. This time I'll be sharing with you my macro shots of orchids still taken in that same place. Proudly Davao!

Flower Festival

Floral float parade is one of the highlights of the Kadayawan Festival. I'm not really fond of watching it live in the streets because it's really congested with people plus I can't tolerate the scorching heat of the sun. So I planned to go to SM carpark instead to see the floats being parked there as I assumed.

My boyfriend and I were searching for the floats at the carpark to no luck so we ended up strolling around the agro trade fair located at SM carpark. Who gave us the idea that the floats were there anyway?

The trade fair consists of flowers and other ornaments as well as food, poultry, birds and other stuffs being shown and sold there. Went to this area where a contest in landscaping was being exhibited. Paid an entrance fee of ten pesos per head to get inside that place. Was interested to see lots of flowers inside and I thought this is a great place to take pictures. Indeed it was! So here were the shots I took...

Fagioli At Last!

It was my craving to visit Fagioli. At last, with my friend's company, I managed to satisfy my cravings for this coffee shop. I heard a lot of raves about this shop that got me interested to visit this place. And I wasn't disappointed!

Fagioli Coffee Shop is located along J.P. Laurel Ave., in front of Link2Support in Damosa. You'll see that big yellow sign of Fagioli's trademark right beside Kia Motors.

I had Iced Cafe Latte (Php 85) and Puttanesca (Php 140). I'm not a pasta expert but what I know is that I love pasta. The pasta's kinda oily, I don't know if that should be the case though I was satisfied with it. Kinda heavy for my appetite but I liked it, reminds me of Sbarro (I miss Sbarro, *Sob). Makes me crave for more. Let me stop describing those so I could share you these photos.



I'll surely visit them again.

Looking For The Right Place To be

Supposedly I was planning to go to the mall yesterday for some shopping when my friend, May, texted me and requested for a companion. She have to take some pictures of a church and some hotel's function room for a 150 guests for her upcoming wedding sometime this year. So I thought I could get to accompany her since I can go shopping some other time. And I love taking pictures, nyahaha. Good thing I brought with me my digicam. Haha.

Moving on. She wanted to have a solemn ceremony and we think Redemptorist Church is a nice venue for that. I wasn't able to take some photo inside the church since May did all of those. Hehe. So here's my share of the church's entrance.

Then next we headed to Grand Regal Hotel for their function room. Fortunately the room was already filled with chairs and tables since a wedding was held the day before so we got a good view on how it would look like.


Came next the Waterfront Hotel. This time, we both agree it's more spacious than the previous one. I say the carpet caught my attention. Wee! I only had this photo captured since I was already feeling uncomfortable with my dysmenorrhea. Argh, (I need a bed badly)! Unfortunately, this room's already been booked the same date as her planned wedding day. That's the worst thing we heard other than my dysmenorrhea. *Sad.

Floods in Davao

At last I found my digicam's charger and managed to upload the said pictures I promised from my last post about being stranded in the downtown area due to flood. This happened on the first week of June and most of the major roads here in Davao were flooded. Floods here are getting worst. Pictures are taken along Quirino Avenue.


Several years back, as I remember, whenever there's heavy rains in the city, motorists only avoid certain areas such as in J.P. Laurel Ave. along Davao Light's Office. That's the usual place where there is flood, but now, everywhere you go you see flood and it is alarming for us locals here. Who wouldn't be? City Mayor blamed it from Global Warming and poor garbage disposal.


Just last week another heavy rain poured the whole night and again floods were evident. On the next day, the commuters had difficulty going to school or to their office because of flood and it was hard to find public transpo. That brought some schools to decide to suspend their classes.


Now, local government were cleaning up some drainage in the city and found out lots of garbage that could have contributed to the floods. *Sweat.


Crissy's Haven: Stucked Up!

Generoso Bridge Now Open

Generoso bridge or popularly known as "Bankerohan Bridge" is now open for public. The 56-year old bridge's lane going to south collapsed last April 2007 and closed this for traffic for a reconstruction. A supposedly 3 months reconstructure of this bridge has led to move it to one year and two months due to no available contractor. This is one of the major bridges of Davao City and due to it's reconstruction it brought heavy traffics within this area...a pain to all motorists to share one lane to pass by this area.

I haven't pass by the bridge recently and I am excited to see it's result. The opening of this bridge causes relief to all riding public in time for the school opening, considering that Ateneo De Davao High School and University of Mindanao campuses are near here.

Stucked Up!

Bad timing!

Jaycee and I went here to our shop along Quirino Ave. coz I have to follow up my credentials that I left here. Unfortunately, heavy rains poured down for over an hour in the late afternoon and flood was everywhere in the city. We were supposed to close our shop at 5 pm but since water started to get inside our shop, our staff here tried to block the water from coming in with minimal success to prevent the products from getting wet. Water level is kinda high outside and many vehicles broke down. Hehe. It's around 6pm and we're still stucked here inside our shop.

Good thing there's an internet connection here so I have something to do while waiting for the cue to go home. Took some pictures awhile ago and I'm gonna post it later.

Tee Hee!

Saturdays #1

My mom gave me moolah the other day, and went to the mall yesterday to buy another Sophie Kinsella's novels. This time it's "Shopaholic Ties The Knot". It's a story about Becky getting married and being torn between her mom and mother-in-law who were both planning for her wedding on the same day. This book reminds me of my friend who is marrying sometime this year.


It was inside the bookstore where my boyfriend and I met for our movie date. After buying the book, we headed to McDonald's. I ordered the usual stuffs I eat, Burger McDo Meal and a Hot Fudge Sundae. It was almost a month that we haven't seen each other considering that we live near each other. So we spent that time at McDo chitchatting and updating each other with our lives.

After which we took a cab heading to NCCC Mall for our movie date. Unluckily, we were stranded almost an hour in a traffic along Quirino Ave. That was the longest traffic we've been and it was so hot inside the cab. Worst is, I felt slightly scared when I saw that the vehicle beside us were full of men in army uniform. They have this red badge on their arm and from that I recognize they're not the Philippine Army. I think they are popularly known for as the MILF or MNLF (whatever!), or Nur Misuari's troops as I describe them. That day, you can see a lot of these men in the city since there was a summit conducted in the city where their leader was a part of it.

Well, I'm not discriminating them being in our city. But I can't just help but feel just a little scared though nothing bad happen while they were here. Davao City still remained peaceful and thank God for that. I guess they're not really that bad and fearful after all.


Inside NCCC mall, we chose to watch Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull 'cos that's what my boyfriend really wanted to watch. I'm not a fan of Indiana Jones and I find some scenes boring though there were some scenes that were funny too. I was sleepy and was eager to get out of the movie house, but since I cannot do that, I ended up resting on my boyfriend's shoulder and trying to get a nap from time to time. Hehe.

Hot..Hot...Hot!

A 2 1/2 hour drive from Davao City, we arrived at Masara, Compostela Valley. We were invited over by our cousin, Kuya Tata, who was working near there. We went there for their hot spring.

This is the view outside the resort. As you can see, we were surrounded by mountains. The entrance fees were P5.00 for adults and P3.00 for kids. Hehe. The resort needs to be improve more. But if you are the cowgirl type, I think this is fine.

Inside the resort is the hot spring, they also have small cottages, a mini store and a videoke. We brought our own food and drinks there and rented some small cottages.


I was kinda disappointed because upon hearing the word "hot spring", I imagined the one I saw on asian novelas where the characters used to dip, so I was very excited. But it turned out to be a disappointment because there's nowhere I could go for a dip.


You can just stand like taking a shower just like what my Kuya Vannie did in that pic. Hehe. The water is really hot! We can't even stand there for long since we'll end up having 2nd degree burns. Haha. Too exaggerated!

Anyways, to compensate for the disappointment, we did have fun taking pictures.

Nature Tripping

If you'd like to commune with nature, Eden Nature Park is the place to be! An hour drive from the city proper, Eden Park is situated along Toril district. Better bring with you a sweater since it's kinda cold there especially in the afternoon. A private vehicle is needed since no public vehicles are available in going to Eden.

The rates are shown above. I took a pic of their package rates for you guys to be aware of. We had a lunch package and that is inclusive of lunch buffet and paid another P55/pax for the tour.

We arrived at around 1:00pm. They only had a number of dishes served, perhaps we're already late for lunch?

That is what we use for our tour around the park. The trip is approximately 45 mins. with 2-3 times stop overs for picture takings and a tour guide along with you. I love the flower gardens!

During our stop over at the flower garden, I took pic of this bee. Luckily I got the shot hurriedly. LOL. Various flowers can be found here.

Sometime in 2005 or 2006, Game Ka Na Ba? (Are You Game?), a game show, was shot in this place. Nice view I tell you!

They plant their own crops and veggies, and use this to serve in their kiosk. This is their nursery overlooking Davao City.

A unique well with floating gumamelas on it. Nice spot to take pics again.

Don't forget to ride the Indiana Jones, okay?! Well, if you don't find it thrilling, take the Skyrider instead. It's located on the other side of the park

This is the aviary, a number of different kinds of birds can be found here. A lot of big mosquitoes as well, so better wear some Off-Lotion when going here. LOL.
